Cover
refers to the type of fabric or ticking that you see, quilting refers
to the thickness and pattern of the quilt. One important component of
a mattress is the fibrous pad that separates the springs from the cover,
all the beds from Fred's beds have a heavy duty pad as well. Most manufactures
try to sell a bed based on how nice the cover looks, but beware this could
be a false leader.

A
box, or foundation is just that, a solid foundation that a mattress rests
on, while a boxspring has springs inside it. You may be familiar with
putting boards underneath your mattress because the boxspring is sagging
making the bed uncomfortable, this is a common problem with boxsprings.
Fred's Beds has both in stock and on display so you may choose which one
you prefer, but by past experience the foundation or box wins out by far.
But please you be the judge.

Springs
and coils are the same thing, and they are what give the mattress its
strength and support. The gauge of the spring is how thick it is, and
the number of coils are how many springs there are in a mattress. Now
just because you have a lot of coils in a mattress doesn't mean it is
any better, the more coils the smaller the spring. There are only two
independent spring manufactures left in America, Legat & Plat & Hickory.
Most springs are made by Legat & Plat i.e. Basset. Of course Simmons has
the patent on the Beautyrest coil which is an individual pocketed coil.

system made only by Simmons.
